In mid-April, the government eased some of the restrictions around wedding celebrations at venues in England.

Couples can now have a total of 15 guests at their wedding ceremony, although evening receptions are still currently not allowed.

The ban on evening parties is expected to continue until at least 21 June. However, if the government’s lockdown easing roadmap goes to plan, the permitted number of wedding guests will rise to 30 people on Monday 17 May.

Can we have a wedding breakfast?
That’s the good news! Right now, couples can have a wedding breakfast after the ceremony, although it must be held outside. At Coltsford Mill, we’ve been delighted to accommodate outdoor wedding breakfasts on our stunning extended terrace, adjacent to the spacious Watermill Barn.

We’ve always loved to blend indoors and outdoors at our unique barn wedding venue, because the Surrey countryside makes such a beautiful backdrop. From our covered terrace, you and your guests can enjoy views of our spectacular 12-acre grounds, while staying warm and dry at all times.

What’s the next step for wedding rules easing?
Hopefully, we’ll reach another key milestone on 17 May, when wedding breakfasts can move back indoors.

The team at Coltsford Mill will continue to adhere to Covid-19 safety guidelines as lockdown eases. Guests will be seated in their household groups or support bubbles, at a safe 2m distance from other groups.

Although guests will have to leave the venue once the wedding breakfast is over, there are ways to extend your day. Having saved on the cost of evening entertainment and catering, many of our couples have chosen to upgrade to our Premier package. This includes a leisurely five-course meal, giving couples more time to enjoy the company of their friends and family.
